If you ask anyone what a search engine is and does you are going to get a variety of responses. But if you ask them how to find something on the internet they will just say, “I Google it”, it has become a verb for looking things up. Now ask them to explain the differences between Google, Yahoo and Bing and they are at a loss to explain any differences. Most people assume they are all the same thing, which they aren’t. “Google is a company with an array of products that all integrate with search—the search engine being the flagship product. Bing is a search engine which powers a few other search modules. And Yahoo is not a search engine at all, but a web portal with a search engine powered by Bing.” I wasn’t even aware that Yahoo was powered by a Bing search engine! One of the main differences is that Google relies more heavily on recent results. Bing has traditionally been more visual, but has improved it’s result SERP’s (Search Engine Results Page) recently. Yahoo has more interactive user features, but still relies on a Bing search engine, although Yahoo controls the results. To read the original article click here.
